Toogood Road Family Medical Centre is an independently doctor owned practice. Our doctors are committed to providing the highest quality of personalised care to the people of Cairns and surrounding areas.
At Toogood Road Family Medical Centre we give time. We provide old fashioned service whilst meeting modern expectations. Our doctors uphold the high ethical standards of the Australian Medical Association. Toogood Road Family Medical Centre is accredited by AGPAL to the requirements of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
To provide you with quality care we ask that you make appointments in advance whenever possible. However some time each day is set aside for those conditions requiring immediate attention.
Toogood Road Family Medical Centre is a private billing practice. Our fees vary according to the length and complexity of the service provided and are payable at the time of your visit. Most services are eligible for a Medicare rebate paid directly to your bank account.
Understanding risk factors can help individuals to identify the lifestyle changes needed to make a positive difference. The lifestyle risk factors include smoking, nutrition, alcohol and physical activity (aka SNAP). Each of the SNAP risk factors is associated with many diseases and often interrelate throughout the lifecycle. It is therefore important to manage risk factors collectively and not in isolation.
The staff acknowledge the enormous strain the COVID-19 pandemic has placed on our patients and their families and we continue to reassess the best options for delivering health care to and support to our patients.
We would like to say a big THANK YOU to everyone for helping do our part in “flattening the curve” and reducing the threat of COVID19 to our Cairns community.
We are still offering Telehealth (phone) appointments for anyone who prefers this.
Due to social distancing policies we will keep those waiting in the waiting room to a minimum.
Please let reception know if you are unwell, have recently travelled from outside Cairns or have been in contact with a known case of COVID19.
Thank you for your patience, care and messages of support during this very challenging time.
