To provide you with quality care we ask that you make appointments in advance whenever possible. However some time each day is set aside for those conditions requiring immediate attention.
Toogood Road Family Medical Centre is a private billing practice. Our fees vary according to the length and complexity of the service provided and are payable at the time of your visit. Most services are eligible for a Medicare rebate paid directly to your bank account.
Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia. Anyone can get breast cancer. Men and women. Young and old. Breast cancer does not discriminate.
53 Australians are diagnosed each and every day.
Since the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) started funding in 1994, the five-year survival rates have improved from 76% to 91%. This high survival rate means that more women are living with the long-term consequences of their breast cancer and treatment than ever before.
Immunisation is a simple, safe and effective way of protecting people against harmful diseases before they come into contact with them. Immunisation not only protects individuals, but also others in the community, by reducing the spread of preventable diseases.
Understanding risk factors can help individuals to identify the lifestyle changes needed to make a positive difference. The lifestyle risk factors include smoking, nutrition, alcohol and physical activity (aka SNAP). Each of the SNAP risk factors is associated with many diseases and often interrelate throughout the lifecycle. It is therefore important to manage risk factors collectively and not in isolation.
We are still offering Telehealth (phone) appointments to patients that may prefer to continue with this type of care, and we encourage this if you are unwell or vulnerable. If you have visited the practice in the last 12 months a Medicare rebate applies outside this time frame a fee will charged.
Due to social distancing policies we will keep those waiting in the waiting room to a minimum.
Please let reception know if you are unwell, have recently travelled from outside Cairns or have been in contact with a known case of COVID19.
Thank you for your patience during this very challenging time.
