Monitoring COVID-19 infections will now be part of a broader surveillance strategy for respiratory pathogens of public health significance, including influenza and respiratory syncytial virus. Queensland Health will continue to advise the public and health sector about any increased risk to public health from communicable diseases including COVID-19. This may include communications for the public and the health sector on preventing and managing acute respiratory infections. The publication of protocols and guidelines for the management of acute respiratory infections, including COVID-19, in healthcare settings will continue to be available.
The key public health messages on preventing acute respiratory infections remain: get vaccinated, if eligible; clean your hands regularly; stay at home if you are sick; and cover your cough or sneeze to protect others.
Please remember to social distance.
